the backstory

Haggai and monika first met in spring 2022 at a mutual friend’s birthday party in Brooklyn. They crossed paths again at said friend’s Halloween party that fall. It was finally at the next birthday party the following spring when they decided they should see each other more than twice a year.

They spent most of that party talking to each other – leaning against kitchen counters or sitting on the wood floor, petting the large dog between them. Haggai asked for her number (if he hadn’t, she was going to ask for his). and then rode the subway with her till her stop.

the summer of 2023 was filled with lots of dates (breweries, rooftop bars, citibiking, prospect park) but also busy with separate travel. come fall, they both knew this was something special.
